We had snow a couple of times this past week, but I’m in a “fake it til you make it” sort of mindset for spring decor!
I didn’t have a super specific vision in mind when I got started, but the muted, dusty tones of some florals at Michaels certainly sparked some inspiration.
I also really wanted to try something different on the mantle also. I was really drawn to this draping greenery from @katelynchantelblog on Instagram.
Here is what I came up with!
I was able to create a similar look with a garland and three draping bushes of greenery, all from Michaels.
Around the hearth, I scooted some of my staple pieces around.
I moved my larger stool to the opposite side, flipped my sofa crate upside down to help add some height, and stacked a smaller stool on top. I layered a blue green jug inside of a chicken wire basket for a little pop of color. My “go to” trio of candlesticks were layers for different heights to continue some visual interest, and some potted faux greenery completes the vignette.
On the opposite side of the hearth, I layered some cloth napkins to add a spot of color. May favorite pieces is this wicker gathering basket, another Michaels find. I absol love it and know I am going to find lots of ways to incorporate it into my decor all year long.
My cat Louie also approves! He has been sitting in this at night just about every night since I’ve put it out.
Those faux flowers that I mentioned earlier? They have found their home in the shutter vases that I have in either side of my TV.
I spotted the orange-y/mauve-y colored chenille blanket at target and thought it would perfectly compliment the time of the flowers…
“And it was then that the color scheme was born”
I’m hoping that you read that in the dramatic movie voiceover voice.
But seriously, I am being very drawn to that sort of color for spring. Which is a little weird because it really looks like more of a fall color (or is that just me??).
That’s why when I saw these glass jars at Michaels, I knew that they needed to come home with me
I tucked in a little extra greenery and an only electrical insulator, and BAM! vignette done.
It also was a major selling point for this pillow cover I snagged from amazon of all places.
It has small touches of that orang-y/mauve as well as blues and pinks. I love the material of it also. It’s a unique texture, almost like a super fine corduroy.
I switched up my coffee table tray a bit. I always have this extra large tray on top of my leather ottoman so that we can have a surface for drinks and such. I usually have a little basket with some candles and little decor pieces on it. This time, I swapped out the basket for this wooden plate. I found this little terrarium at Michaels (if you haven’t figured it out yet, I have been a huge fan of Michaels spring decor this year!) and filled it with an IKEA plant my favorite candlefrom Modern City & Main.
