Halloween Bat Decorations on the Front Porch

I’ve never been so eager to decorate the front porch as I am right now, now that the floor has been painted. You can see all the details on that in this post. I wanted to utilize the Halloween bat decorations that are so popular right now. Keep reading to see how I incorporated them this year!

At the front door, I reinstated my DIY boardwalk and wide doormat. I added some new planters that I picked up at the end of the season from Walmart.

Of course, they were filled with mums. I also tucked in the faux greenery that I’d used over the summer in my other planters.

The lanterns are one of my favorite finds ever. They have a battery operated timer that turns them on and off.

I tucked some faux leaves and pumpkins into my vintage crates. The pillows are Target Dollar Spot finds. They are not outdoor quality, but since my porch is covered and I change them seasonally (i.e. they aren’t out in the elements for an extended amount of time), I love to use them out here.

As for the bats, I ordered PVC ones from Amazon. I had paper ones, but I wanted to use something that would hold up better in the dampness of October weather.

They were hung around an old frame that I hung up using command strips.

I had issues with them sticking to the screens. To fix it, I lifted the left screen up to the top so that I could put the bats on the glass. That wasn’t possible on the right side, so I folded packing tape, sticky sides together, to create clear strips that could hang down from the frame. They weren’t super noticeable and they did the trick to give the bats a smooth spot to hang onto.
