Today I’d like to share with you a recent Goodwill find and how I gave this thrifted stool a makeover!
I loved it’s shape, but I especially appreciated it’s height! The tapered legs were a bit taller than most footstools, and I thought it’s make an incredible plant stand. Shockingly, considering Goodwill’s prices lately, it was only $5! I had to scoop it up and bring it home with me.
While I didn’t want to keep the painted design, I did really like the color of the wood stain underneath of it. I could just imagine it coming out of an old farmhouse… *le sigh*
I used my random orbital sander to take off the paint, and ultimately the old stain too.
This is how she looked when I was done:
I checked my stash of stains to see if I had a shade that looked like it could recreate the original color. I ended up going with Minwax stain in the color Provincial.
Here is how it turned out:
I love the final look. Since I’m getting decorated for Christmas, I decided to style it for now in my front entryway with a little tree and ceramic house.
