I am really loving our Christmas decor this year! I went very heavy on a red and white theme, and it’s just so merry!
I do have to admit one little thing that went a little crazy on this year… see our tree, It used to be a pre-lit tree. I say “used to be” because I cut out all of the wired in lights this year… but I am so happy that I did!
This tree was the one we bought when we first moved into our house. I loved it! I love the way the needles look and it’s size. A couple years ago, the lights stopped working; the first year, we just strung some lights on top of the burnt out ones. It didn’t look very nice, so the following year (last year) we bought a new one. I ordered it from amazon, and it ended up being SO big. The only place we could fit it was in the corner to the right of the fireplace.
So I admit, I was a little crazy, but I’m so happy with being able to continue using our old tree!
I found an awesome red and white buffalo plaid flannel ribbon* on amazon. The red Christmas balls are ones we have been using since we were first married, and the white were from Walmart this year. I snagged some cotton picks from Michaels and red berries from Walmart (for only $.97!!). At the top of the tree, I did something a little different than my normal topper with some of the picks, adding in some frosted twigs from Walmart as well.
Above the T.V., I hung a DIY sign, and updated the shutter vases with some Christmas stems from Walmart. They were gorgeous and only $5!
The poinsettia is a clip from Dollar Tree that took off of some other mini trees that I have used in the past.
My $10 Black Friday blanket* is keeping the ladder festive.
We have previously been using the shelves to display our Christmas village, but I wasn’t feeling it this year so I just styled them instead.
It was a lot of what we normally have with just a few touches of red tossed in.
I am really loving the mantle this year. I wasn’t sure exactly what I was doing with it until I just started pulling things out and then with it. I think it turned out pretty good, though! I love the wooden skis. I usually end up reserving them for post-Christmas/winter decor, but I think they are perfect with this set up. (I found mine at Hobby Lobby a few years back, but I was able to find some VERY similar on Amazon*!)
This little tree was one of the two I have previously stations by the front door. It’s wrapped in a knit garland I picked up at Crate & Barrel last year. The red lantern was a Colorfest find a few years back….
…and this crate was a find from this year!
That’s Christmas in the living room this year! I’ll be sharing the kitchen and coffee bar later this week!
